Is there a registration fee?
No, your willingness to participate is a gift, but don't hesitate to make your own donation and get friends to support your efforts. For a minimum of $300.00 you will qualify for a cycling jersey, contribute to the cost of organizing the ride, and support the cause.
Is there a minimum amount to raise per cyclist?
Yes, $300.00 by July 31. Ours is a shared goal of $60,000.00 for 2025. We are all in this together.
How are donations receipted?
Charitable tax receipts for online and credit card donations are automated. All other donations will be receipted via Canada Post or email within 60 days of receipt. Provide your Given and Surname; and full current mailing address; CRA requires this.
Are cyclists fed during the ride?
Meals, water, and refreshments will be provided during the ride, excluding breakfast at the start on day 1 and dinner at the end on day 2. Please ensure you disclose any allergies to the organizers at the time of registration.
Where will people sleep?
We will camp at Port Dover courtesy of the hospitality of a generous friend of the ride. Limited in-cottage accommodation will be available. Bring your own tent, if you don't own one, you have the option of sharing or accepting a loaner from the organizer.
Can I ride if I am under 18 years?
Yes, but only if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
How fast will the ride be?
It is not a race, but it requires prior training and fitness. Expect 18-25 kph with rest stops as needed. If your pace is slower or you need extra rest/assistance, a support vehicle will come to your aid. We can offer training tips. Just ask.
What kind of bike is best for this ride?
A bike with gravel tires is ideal, 1/3 of the route is gravel (unpaved) rail trail surface.
What happens in case of bicycle breakdown?
We will be as resourceful as possible, you are riding with people who will want to assist, but if the breakdown is catastrophic, a support vehicle will come to your aid.
It is recommended that you carry a reasonable number of spare parts as there will be limited space in our service vehicle. Get your bike tuned-up before the ride. A water bottle on your bike is a must. We are happy to suggest a list of tools and spares. Just ask.
What to pack?
Personal effects for overnight camping. Warm clothes for the evening. Bug spray. Sun block. Bed sheets or a sleeping bag even if assigned a cottage bed.
